Meet Mwinda Project Staff

The Mwinda Project staff is a team working to provide Bible teaching guides for children and youth in all the major languages of Congo.  None of our Congolese staff is yet at full support, so your prayers and financial support are invited.  You or your church could have your very own African missionary.  The Mwinda Project missionary will gladly facilitate communication with your Congo missionary as needed.

Mwinda Project Staff

The Mwinda Project goal is to provide children’s Bible teachers’ guides in all the major languages of Congo.  Therefore, translators are a necessity to the ministry.  Veteran missionary Lorella Rouster writes the guides directly in the Congo Kituba language (also called Kikongo or Kikongo ya Leta).  This language is spoken throughout the southern part of the Bandundu Province south of the Kasai River.

Pastor Kongolo then translates them into the Congo Lingala language.  Lingala is spoken in the northern part of the Bandundu Province north of the Kasai River, in the capital city Kinshasa, and along the Congo River.  It is the second national language of Congo after French.  It is also the most popular language for Christian songs.  In 2019, Pastor Kongolo suffered a serious stroke which affected his left side.  He has worked hard at rehabilitation and we are now blessed to be seeing his translations once again.  Pray for continued healing and strength.

Pastor Bope (say Boh-pay) heads a small team of translators putting the lessons into the Congolese Tshiluba language for the Kasai Provinces in Central Congo.  He also teaches at ECM’s African Leadership Training Center at Mission Garizim offering church leaders a  diploma in Christian Education.  Pastor Bope supervises ECM’s advances into the Kasai Region.

Volunteer translator Elias Chomas translates some into Congo Swahili for the eastern part of Congo.

In April 2021, we added to our staff Pastor Jovin Mankasi, to supervise the distribution of the materials to Teachers Resource Libraries.  He also supervises the work of the libraries to assure that more and more churches are able to receive the materials.
