Give Me Eyes to See

JUST OUT! Give Me Eyes to See. In Lorella’s second book, she shows how God used a painful childhood of autism to give her eyes to see and help forgotten children.

October 2022 by Lorella Rouster

My second book, “Give Me Eyes to See”, describes how I came to recognize that the pain of my childhood was due to autism, and how God healed my heart and used that painful, lonely time to give me a heart for the hurting. Through that, He enabled my family and I to help start Haven of Hope Home for Children, liberate shrine slaves, bring healing and hope to children whose lives had been devastated by war, and much more.

Stoke My Fire–Missionary Stories that Have Stoked My Fire

Lorella’s third book–Stoke My Fire. Missionary Stories that Have Stoked My Fire

October 2022

Missionary biographies have been a hugely influential part of my life. It was while reading “Through Gates of Splendor” that God first helped me to envision myself as a missionary. Reading that book began a love affair that has taken me through an estimated 200 or so missionary biographies. They have long been my favorite kind of book, always thrilling me, inspiring me to greater perseverance and service.

In addition, they have helped to give me realistic expectations. I went to what is now Congo with my family aware of the lifestyle that would be required of me. When discouragements came, I could compare them with those faced by William Carey or Ann Judson. This helped to keep things in perspective. I struggled to overcome autism. That was nothing compared with Andrew Foster, who struggled with deafness and racism at the same time, going on to establish 22 deaf schools in Africa–more than anyone else anywhere, ever. I have longed to share the some of the missionary stories that have been influential in my life. I believe many others will be encouraged and inspired as well.

In ‘Stoke My Fire’, veteran missionary Lorella Rouster retells some of her favorite missionary stories for all ages.

God Uses Crooked Sticks

Lorella’s much-awaited first book includes some of her favorite (and least favorite) moments as a missionary. In “God Uses Crooked Sticks”, she tells moving and sometimes funny stories. She draws them all from their family’s now 40-year-and-counting adventure as African missionaries. You will laugh, cry, gasp, and beg for more. You will enjoy this missionary biography, arranged topically.
Here are a few of her adventures:

Stuck in mud up to her shoulders. Alone.
Apartment on fire and trapped in a locked building.
A stream of driver ants going over the toilet seat. Lorella does see them in the dark.
Learning how to bake bread in a termite hill
And much more…
